Creative Arts Therapy
Creative arts therapy, is the use of the creative arts as a form of therapy. Unlike traditional art expression, the process of creation is emphasized rather than the final product.
Creative Arts Therapy is the practice of using visual art, music, theater, storytelling, puppets, multimedia, poetry and movement together, in a creative and integrated way to express their emotions and feelings through the various forms of creative expression and to realize individual and group goals.
Arts Therapy is a language of communication between the therapist and the client, where the therapist and client move freely between drawing, dancing, music, drama and poetry.
Music therapy is the use of music and music-making in a psycho-therapeutic relationship, making it a musical therapeutic relationship. Music therapy uses music as a symbolic representation and expression of the individual.
Music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of individuals. The therapist provides the indicated treatment including creating, singing, moving to, and / or listening to music.
Through musical involvement, clients’ abilities are strengthened and transferred to other areas of their lives. Music therapy also provides approaches for communication that can be helpful to those who find it difficult to express themselves in words.
